In The Middle Of Nowhere

Our thoughts are lame as we drink our future in wine

Whiles we walk on our dreams blindfolded,

Straight down the gutters like swine

And leaving our fats of worries unsolved,

Whiles we cursed the gods on our unfading troubles,

And the words of accusations we laid through libation,

Come let us pray till our griefs are read,

And the little answer we awaits on our story,

As our labor fruits waves bye to our baskets.

Hey it a new year eve,

And our dreams are unfolding

For all pictures painted in our thoughts drawn into reality,

Hey there the future lies in our hands,

Till we dig out the cassavas of joy

And harvest great smiles of our toils,

The gods promises were due but this is from the supreme,

The drumming sounds from various corners

Lightening our smiles on native faces,

In the middle of nowhere

The Off Grid Life

the off-grid life.

untied from the shackles of strife,

2017, the modern existence,

getting on the property ladder, how does anyone have a chance?
20, 25 or 30, forced to work to pay every bill,

going to work all hours, struggling to find a way, a life against our will,

needing the money from any form of work, mostly unprogressive, unhappy
life passing by, frustrating, anger, decreasing self-worth, causing individuals to be snappy

unfulfilled, potentials are not met, working a job all day, unable to progress,

money is the key factor, for bills to be met, let me digress.

often they still aren't causing pain and suffering, stress and depression,

homelessness is rife through the country, a feeling of regression,

a feeling of being stuck, how to retrain and improve your careers?
speak to friends or family and the same conversation, doubts, and fears
if only another option was available,

one that was accepted and not just for the vulnerable,

the homeless, the people with nothing,

but how is this existence different? it is truly crushing,

once you can see that your life is consumed with working for money,

the soul has passed, your energy too, it can get so hard it's not even funny,

but who understands? in the face of consumerism, higher purchase, loans, and debt,

who is living a life, truly satisfied, and their dreams are met?

Not all people living off-grid are rich in cash!
but they aim for other needs; security in food & energy, it's worth a bash,

a growing transition for many people too,

it's not just for the hippies, the spiritual, it's for people like me and you,

think about it for a moment or two...

who would you be without your car, house and your possessions?
is that person you portray the real you? or do you blend in so people don't ask questions?
are you honest with your family and friends?

or do you sit behind a desk wishing it would end?
there is a wealth of knowledge of old traditions,

from a time when they lived without these conditions,

the conditions of social media, advertising, marketing ads or vlogs

when screen time didn't consume every waking hour, and children were fascinated with tadpoles transforming into frogs.

hours spent outside, climbing trees, playing at the park,

not allowed home unless it was tea time or had gotten dark.

a shift is happening, ecotherapy, wild schooling, bushcraft, and hikes,

forest schooling, homeschooling, people walking and out on their bikes,

scientists are noticing the effects on children's behaviors, reduced health issues,

ADHD,  also a boost in self-awareness, positivity, confidence and mental health issues

is it easier to sit a child down to hours in front of the tv, or ipad?

than it is to spend a few hours playing down the park with dad?

or baking a cake with mum, the importance of these skills are being misplaced,

in this consumerism world, with employees a number, in a life so fast-paced.

Off-grid living, the communities hidden away,

all they want is a parcel of land to look after their needs, but hey,

that's not possible, 'cause where will the local council get their tax,

with the community, living off the land, growing food and chopping wood with an axe,

the need and usage of government-owned services would become minute,

living simply and within your skills of the land, renewables used, an abundance of fruit,

food preserved in many forms, jams and chutneys, frozen meat,

enough food to last year-round to survive through winter, or in the heat,

the food produced off the land, tending the garden, and grown for nutrition,

the most important for life and health also said to aid in remission.

off grid homesteaders, don't need to take the flack,

with health as the focus, working outdoors to provide, lowering the need for prozac,
comments from shallow minded people need not be said,

the power of community, working together, I want to spread,

to include children in the transition, of conserving nature and our wildlife,

the tranquil setting amongst the seasons, watching the stars, that's my type of nightlife.

Author's Notes/Comments:

This is my first time sharing my poetry, (after a few friends encouraged me that I should) please be kind and send your thoughts.

Also all words are opinions of myself in the modern world that we live in.

This is not meant to cause offense, harm, upset to anyone, and if it does please understand that is not my intention.

Many thanks,

To Become

Society's filled so dark
A sickness fit to last
A hasty hungry shark
A one that bites the glass

The air turns a poison mist
and the grass turns to a distant waste
A glare becomes a fist
and then a flower becomes erased

Bound

Bound by the cities

Bound by another one's pity's

Expect a place to be

Or expect not want to be seen

And I'll take you as walking money

I see you as a pretty big funny

We and I, all have found our place

And you my dear, have barely found a face

Bound to me, and to my briefcase

I'll lend you a smile, but you're a secret disgrace

Find the comfort in another's eyes

But in reality, another girl will have them hooked on their clever disguise

Find a place to be

Or expect not want to be seen

Stuck in a rut

With no qualities, not knowing what

Who are you and what are you in this city?

Gone and withdrawn, alone and all shitty?

Expect a place to see

Or expect us to be mean

For you are bound

What goes around, comes around

You are stuck here, forever with me

With no voice, or founding plea

For you are bound

My slave, to paint my sacred ground

A CHOICE EVERY ONE OF US CAN MAKE

Dayna Morales, ever heard of her? I didn’t until just the other day

She’s a waitress in New Jersey who wasn’t tipped simply because she is gay.

Not because the service was poor, the food was awful or there was a long delay

No, Dayna didn’t receive a tip for the sole purpose...she is gay.

In lieu of a tip a note was left on the receipt right next to the butter knife

Saying I’m sorry I cannot tip you as I don’t agree with how you live your life.

It’s interesting to note Dayna hadn’t a clue and it was only after the service was complete

That she noticed the non-tippers cowardly message on the bottom of her receipt.

Not leaving a tip because someone is gay is as illogical, I surmise,

As not leaving a tip because you didn’t like her height...or the color of her eyes.

Dayna doesn’t have a choice of who she is anymore than you or than me

No, the only woman who had a choice in that restaurant chose ignorance and bigotry.

I do feel sorry for Dayna and the bigotry she endured I deplore

But in some ways, because of her ignorance, I feel sorry for the non-tipper more.

For I bet she didn’t know Dayna was a former marine who battled unselfishly

So every person, even the non-tippers, could live in a land that is free.

Of course that shouldn’t have mattered. Dayna did not deserve her enmity.

She deserved to be treated as a human being, with respect and dignity.

Isn’t that what we all wish for? It’s not such a lofty aim

For everyone, no matter who they are, to be treated exactly the same.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if people were accepting of others and were kind just for kindness sake?

And just so you know Miss Non-Tipper, that’s a choice every one of us can make.

Lifestyle

We live in modern times,
Where a child gets DVD rhymes,

Technology has moved way a head,
That video conferencing can be done even by sitting on a bed,

The world wants everything fast,
Be it food, commutation, painkillers or a good star cast!

We have reached a point where slow means backward,
Where are we running with so many machines forward?

If one feels a little sick he pops a pill,
Diseases of today jolts one with a big bill,

Years ago the people where stronger,
Years ago people lived more healthy and longer,

Life gets ruined in a fast pace,
As the body grows in an imbalanced base,

The more you want something quicker through a techno bite,
The more your immune system becomes weaker against a disease fight,

If you want to live healthy,
Then live simple even if you’re wealthy,

Use your body for household chores,
Don’t just entertain yourself outdoors,

Eat less and work more,
Don’t be rude by becoming an eye sore!

Lifestyle definition is not in purchasing big brands,
Lifestyle is being content, simple, enjoying even with dish washing hands,

Your lifestyle should give you joy and peace,
Your lifestyle should not be a symbol of your competition fees,

So make your lifestyle as simple as possible,
Work for the underprivileged being as a causable!!

Author's Notes/Comments:

Lifestyle should be simple!

Facsimile City

Curbs are kicking back,
roads haven risen, fallen,
the avenues are tarred
and feathered thick with quills.
Quickened are facsimiles
of those who used to walk
the streets' uneven pavement,
leaving trails of trodden,
slickened slime from vats
where they'd been produced
to stand in for the dwellers.
Skies lit red with meteors
which we are ignoring
by means of screen and covered ears,
and all the shrieking billboards.
The day draws the shades,
the sun begins to plummet,
and beneath the massing shadow,
we do battle with our facade:
concede to maintain,
and continue on our way.

The One I Serve

Folder:
2011

I know that I have written
A similar one before
But he is no longer in the picture
And it was ten years ago that
I left him way behind

But with you, I never
See myself leaving you
Not unless you tell me to leave
And I will be forced to comply
Because you are the one I serve

So please tell me that you
Will be my master for forever
And a day because one minute
Away from you is more than
A second than I can bear

I love the fact that you do
Not make it obvious
It’s not really a life style for us
It’s just the way we are
And I hope it stays that way

Because you mean everything to me
And I am hoping that I
Mean the same to you
Because I will always feel like this
And you I will always serve

Author's Notes/Comments:

This was written to Tom Nevelle. This is how I feel about him. He means everything to me, more than life itself. I can feel him, even now, next to me. Even though, in truth, he is at his place doing his thing and I am at mine. We have a connection that is undenable. That is why I couldn't break up with him, when he found 'His Toy'. She is know gone and away from him, and that makes me happy. I think that the whole point of doing that was to prove, he is "The One I Serve'.

Tomorrow

Folder:
Christianity

Life is too rare to be wasted on the nothing.
Why wait, tell me, why not start your adventure now.
Don't wait until tomorrow, for tomorrow is yet to come.
And you don't know what each day will bring.

[Look, and see, the rising sun and the setting dawn.
Look to the rich Fall colors - they only last a season.
Never take for granted the friends around you,
for they are the gift from God.]

Don't wait until tomorrow, for tomorrow is yet to come.
You don't know what tomorrow will bring,
and today is in your hands, so listen here.
Don't wait until tomorrow, for today is a gift.
