Dressin' Up

Folder:
Lovespeak

Today, I feel to be a Taylor

Put a touch of being demure

Get everything out of our closets

Because we will be doing our best

Snatch out bills from our pouch

Scream ourselves nice and loud

Run through our room like we have dates

Beg help from our skillful roommates

When the crown is already done

Get dressed up, we're having fun

We wait for our crushes to pass by

To look at us and stop to say hi

Tonight, I am Lady Gaga

I get the crown and dress all black

Even though our feet ache

The show should start at eight

I'm dressin' up for the first time

I'm thinkin' like the world is mine

I'm walkin' like I'm about to shine

I'm talkin' like I own the night

The Frown Syndrome People

Frown Syndrome people are nothing new,
I think they've been here before me or you,
Around and around on the merry-go-round,
They frown if they're white, and they frown if they're brown.

They frown in the city, and frown in the town,

When asked to stop frowning,
They will frown at you and say,
"I'll have to stand on my head,
Because this frown won't go away."

They will frown in the morning, and they'll frown in the night,
They will frown in the darkness, and frown in the light,
Those Frown Syndrome people, can become quite a sight!
I'm beginning to think that it just is not right!

We might smile, and greet them, with gracious 'hellos',
We might bring them some presents in boxes and bows,
We might paint them a smile with pretty pink crayons,
But no matter how pretty, smiles just never stay on!

The doctor is eager to give them a pill,
But the frowning comes back when he sends them the bill,
Some say that a hug could help brighten their day,
But the Frown Syndrome people don't like hugs, they say.

I think variations in people will be,
Underneath every syndrome we'll find,
If we look with our hearts beauty's easy to see,
What we miss when just using our mind.

About what people just are... love them anyway.

Wake UP!

Wake Up! Wake UP! No more sleeping in bed
Little Peter is crying he needs to be fed

Angie is failing she can’t even read
This problem exists because she is poor- that’s what her teacher now believes

We are failing our children while we lie asleep
Our family structure is failing and is proven to be weak.

Wake Up! Wake Up! Mother while Peter is being raped
By the same man you love and claim it’s you that he dates

Wake! Wake Up! Dad your daughter is growing old
She needs a man in her life – so she sleeps with the addict who treats her cold…

Wake Up mom and dad no more thinking about you
But instead of our children whose thoughts are misconstrued

The alarm clock has gone off- No more sleeping in bed
Let’s save the children we have left
‘Cause half of our children are already dead.

Wake Up!!!!

Author's Notes/Comments:

Wake up is a powerful piece screaming the needs of some of our children. Wake up has been described as the perfect wake up call for those caring for children. It is a great gift for someone in the social services field; teachers or any persons providing the needs of our children

Love Travels

Love goes up.
Love goes down.

Love goes all around.
Back and forth.
Side to side.

And all around.

Waiting

Silently waiting,
Wishing for news,
The lights are flickering,
And the air is cold.

Grey walls with words
Engraved on their surface,
Tell me stories of death,
Of rage, of pain,
Of the lives that waited here,
And the lives
That waited
Alone.
