Night seems to lengthen-long,

for his yearly journey.

His jolly conveyence

slipping through a timeless warp,

as it travels The Eve

on magical flight

in the trails of a Comet-

(and a Cupid and a Donder and a Blitzen...)

Hours, but mere seconds on his watch.

Jovial face laughing

as he performs his annual duty

of delievering childhood wishes-

...All done,

in the Nick of time.

Mistle Toe Kisses

Folder:
Holidays

Under a tiny bough

of Christmas wishes

heart's whisper

mistle toe kisses.

A little sprig

hung from above

attracting two

who share a love.

Nothing warmer on winter nights

as fireplace hisses

then standing there exchanging

mistle toe kisses.

IRISH BLESSINGS

~Irish Blessings~

Again is another St. Patrick's Day

And we celebrate it in a grand way

We sure like wearing something green

And show it upon a shirt or a pair of jeans

There's something nice about this holiday

And lots of us agree that is a special day

When we can think for some good reason

About other things that relate to this season

Some people feel just like dancing

While making merry and all the way laughing

Some like watching for those jolly green little men

Hopping and dancing while carrying gold by the glen

St. Patrick's Day is a very happy day

Filled of fanciful fables the Irish way

Enshrouded in mysteries and fairy tales

One more than the other behind an Irish veil

So today is another St. Patrick's Day

Let's dance and be merry the whole day

Let's search for leprechauns and for a four-leaf-clover

And find rainbows even after this day is over

Another Christmas

Folder:
The Void

It's that time of year, where I put out all the lights

Decorate the Christmas tree so the glow is oh so bright

I hang out all the stockings and put up the missile toe

Then I drown myself in eggnog and I watch my favorite show

It's just another lonely Christmas

I heard the family is missing me

It's just another lonely Christmas

But that's the way I want it to be

You can't spend your life wishing upon

A falling star that will never come

It's just another lonely Christmas

And I wish you were here

People rushing to the stores to buy last minute gifts

I hear songs of celebration sung by the church choir kids

As I look at the Christmas cards I wonder why do they all care

Because it's just another Christmas that I couldn't be there

It's just another lonely Christmas

I heard the family is missing me

It's just another lonely Christmas

But that's the way I want it to be

You can't spend your life wishing upon

A falling star that will never come

It's just another lonely Christmas

And I wish you were here

I enjoy those peaceful moments that only come around once a year

I enjoy the lights of the Christmas tree but I wish you were here

You're too many miles away from me and somehow that don't seem right

I only want one Christmas gift and that's to see my dad tonight

It's just another lonely Christmas

I heard the family is missing me

It's just another lonely Christmas

But that's the way I want it to be

You can't spend your life wishing upon

A falling star that will never come

It's just another lonely Christmas

And I wish you were here

GEEZER ON THE ROOF

Folder:
Humor

And there came such a clatter.

The terror made my teeth chatter.

Was it something evil that comes.

To break in to my home.

Down the stairs and out the door I did run,

But not before I got my gun.

“HEY YOU UP THERE!” I was heard to shout,

“JUST WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU ABOUT?”

“SHHH!!!” He said, “I am delivering the toys I’ve got.”

“WELL GET OFF MY ROOF IF YOU DON”T WANT TO GET SHOT”

“Just how in the heck did you get up there anyway?”

“If you were dumb enough to get yourself up there, I oughta let you stay.”

“Come on down here, I am warning you

My wife is calling the cops, in jail you can stew.”

“What do you mean you don’t give a hoot?

Get your fat tush down here or I swear I will shoot.”

“MABEL, hurry up and bring some more ammunition,

That old geezer’s up there with eight head of venison.

“NO, I don’t know how he got up there,

And to be honest, I just don’t care.

I do know he is up there with enough meat,

To feed our family for several weeks”

Hey wait you crazy old nut

You can't just run them deer all over my roof then cut.”

“Merry Christmas to All”, I heard him to say,

As he and his reindeer began to fade away.

By this time I was really hot,

So I took aim and took a shot.

To my surprise all I hit,

Was the outhouse where grandma was taking a sit.

Needless to say, I never heard the end of it,

And to this day I dare not go to the outhouse to sit.

An Insolvent Christmas

Folder:
Potpourri

The pain I feel is very real

As Christmas time draws near.

It doesn't show. How can they know

Of all my inward fear?

Honey, can you tell the pain is hell

because of all the stuff

I cannot do for her and you

It will never be enough.

I wish you knew how I love you

and how I hide my fear;

Of telling you that I can't do

What you deserve, my dear.

Thanksgiving

Folder:
Potpourri

All you turkeys run and hide or next week you'll be inside

This ponderous hulk I'll not believ was me.

Stuffed 'n' wined 'n' satisfied looking forward with great pride

To all the football games on my TV

Halloween is over now abut it's not so sad somehow

Thanksgiving's not so very far away

First we stuff the big ol' bird then after we have said the word

We'll carve him up and put that fowl away.

Talking, laughing, smacking lips, At buffets a dozen trips

That make you feel twice your normal size.

But you're not sure you really care 'cause the whole darn family's there

And this is happiness you realize.

Sauce 'n' spices, dressing too, potatoes, yams 'n' corn 'n' roux

Good ice cream and home made apple pie.

And when Thanksgiving Day is through; You're full of talk and food and brew

And a memory that will always make you sigh.

Orphans money

I walked outside on Christmas morning and found a hundred dollar bill.

I later learned that the money I found was supposed to go to orphans and I felt ill.

When I found the money, I gave it to my landlord and I was pretty sure that he wouldn't return it.

He said he was keeping the money because he earned it.

Two days later he died of a heart attack.

Some say it was a punishment for not giving the money back.

I sold an antique and got two hundred dollars.

I gave it to the orphans and they cheered and hollered.

I gave the orphans money to my landlord and I feel terrible because of what I did.

But I also feel happy because I was able to make it up to these kids.

Happy Thanksgiving

Folder:
Humor

Hello Tom, how are you,

I would like to have you for dinner,

What are we having…uh…stew?

That sounds like a winner.

Tom, you need to dress up

Little stuffing, cranberries, and ketchup

Step in here and take the chill off,

Oven? Oh no…I scoff.

What you say, it is dark in there?

Don’t you worry, pretty soon you won’t care.

Getting too warm, you say, it is down right hot?

Nooooo, it isn’t an oven. Of course not.

Tom? Tom? Have you changed yet?

Welcome every one, he will be done soon

The timer is set.

Happy thanksgiving to one and all,

Can hardly wait to carve that succulent butterball.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.
