"Along the Lines of Your Form"

by Jeph Johnson

Along the lines of your form I plant my eyes as seeds
I love the harvest but must wait for the season to end

"Eyes and Smile"

by Jeph Johnson

I look in your eyes gazing at the ground;

staring down wondering what in them I've found,

but when those lashes rise and your lips breathe a smile

and I see them together I can smile myself.

I inhale the chilly air

Like a man on life support

The smell of wet pine

Mixes well with hot coffee

Outside my cabin door

Mother robin hops the dew

Searching for worms I left behind

The worms I have will feed the fish

At the bottom of the holler

Before I walk the trail

With rod and reel in hand

I marvel how the hilltops

Look like islands in the clouds

Lacy white crystals

No two the same

Never look backwards

From whence they came

With no clouds obstructing

Their forwarded view

They blanket the ground

For a moment or two

And though they don't linger

To hoard or to hold

They sparkle and shine

Like diamonds and gold

So don't rate them down

Because they don't last

For the riches in life

You have to look fast

Author's Notes/Comments:

I thought I'd write one that rhymes, so it looks like I know what I'm doing :)

Stepping outside

Crisp clean cold air

Twilight engulfs me

Stars sparkling, making me stare

Accepting the solace

As it takes me in

Clearing my thoughts

Ready to begin

Knowing you are able to move on after much heartache... good feeling..

A Demon's Own Domain

Lover's Lane

in his mind he is the king

in her mind she is his love

the eyes can't see the pain they bring

the heart sees what their love is made of

they sink into their own misery

he is the ruler

the king

in her heart she only wants to be happy

she is the lover

the queen

he is blinded by his lust

she can see through his soul

he loves what he can't be

all she touches turns beautiful

he only believes what he can see

the wickness in his heart

the hopefullness in her sprit

the darkness that could never tear them apart

a light that shines through it

he is a demon

she is the angel

the good she could only see in him

the everlasting love

a feeling many dream of

he adorns the crown upon his head

she adorns her feelings on her sleeve

she believes that the love is not dead

he can see there is only little time and she will leave

in his eyes he can now only see red

in her heart their love she will always believe

he just wants her to spread her wings

but she could never leave

a broken heart never sings

she could only greve

if he only knew all the pain he brings

retracing my steps

I tread carefully

past the underbrush

excitement filling me

   of the sight beyond

inhaling the sweet familiar scent

I scan my surrounding

to see once again

the river

I hear shouts of glee

water splashing

its coolness sent shivers

on our frail bodies

stones are thrown

small feet running up the little mound

to jump weightless in the air

suddenly there is this

the sound of

and I am left

with my thoughts

my river

our river

still flows

but I wonder

if we would ever come back here

wiping a tear

holding those moments

I am sure

my feet

will find this path

Do you find time to visit your "river" once in a while?

The runway model

Leaves you and me

Aswirl in a cloud

Of perfume and envy

For she is a comet

Sprinkling star dust

On dead planets

In her solar system

As she orbits by us

And off the stage

I shift uneasily

In my chair

For I am told

On the atomic level

Her protons and electrons

Are the same as ours

But it is also true

That a Rembrandt

May be hard to tell

From an inch away

We, the dead planets, are not worthy!

I saw them again

two unsuspecting people

unknowingly created

such impact

in my life.

they walk hand in hand

gnarled hands clasping each other

those hands which once show

the beauty of youth.

age has dimmed their sights

but their eyes still shine

with the love and devotion

for each other.

the look they share

still carry the passion

even through the passage

of time.

the depth of this spectacle

pierced right into my heart

I couldn't do but wonder

what magic has brought them together?

an extraordinary sight

one exceptional couple

a love so enduring.

"what are you looking at?"

someone asked

I smiled and answered,

"my future."
