It will not be an exaggeration to claim that Singapore is a playground that only the rich can afford. Though small the city has wealth in abundance. The culture in Singapore is not just of luxurious shopping malls and hotels but also has a fine chain of dining restaurants. Singapore has a very fascinating history and people from various ethnicities live here in harmony. It has some of the best public transit systems of the world and is well connected and hassle free. Once you become familiar of the entire geography of Singapore, zipping around in a bus is what I recommend!! English is widely spoken here and hence you will not have a problem communicating with the locals. The only thing that you should keep in mind is that Singapore is not a budget vacationing hotspot. The city is known to have some of the best

Marina Bay Sands

This is considered to be one of the most luxurious hotels in the world. The Marina Bay Sands is truly a modern construction marvel with a state of the art shopping mall within itself, which offer various worldwide luxury brands. There is an iconic canal that runs right through the mall. The most talked about part of Marina Bay Sands is the viewing deck and it’s never ending infinity pool. The sad part being, to use the Infinity Pool, you need to be a guest at the hotel which definitely pinch your pockets.  So, if you have a lot of money to splurge and have fun, you must try it at least once in a life time. There are several roof top restaurants on this one of a kind viewing deck where you can munch on to some snacks or even grab a coffee while viewing the clear and picturesque skyline of Singapore.

Singapore flyer

If the viewing deck at Marina Bay sands does not impress you hop on to the Singapore flyer. A bus ride to Bidor from Little India

All the must see attractions of Little India are within walking distance of each other. This bustling neighbourhood although quite compact sees about a thousand visitors in a single day. The small size ensures that the number of attractions are limited but the emphasis is more on the quality. This lets you shop for things that are of good quality and are priced lower than the market rates. Of course, no visit to Little India will be complete with a visit to a temple of some sort. Temples from all 3 different religions of Hinduism, Islam and Buddhism stand alongside each other with great pride.

Earlier UI had no plan of visiting Little India but I was somehow forced to visit this place and I am quite happy with it. After experiencing an altogether different world that exists in such a compact place.  I was heading towards Malaysia and while booking my bus tickets from  redbus, Little India was mentioned as the Bus boarding point and this is when I came across this place for the first time.  It is believed that Little India is Singapore’s largest market place and a major transportation hub.

The one place that I liked the most at Little India was Mustafa Centre that is open 24 hours of the day and a place where you will find under one roof. Many shoppers come to this centre from the surrounding neighbourhood along with a fair share of tourists. The place although a little disorganised and jam-packed everyday yet one of the most visited places in Little India. Among the several malls that are present at Little India, this is one of the cheapest that I visited.  Mustafa Centre is located right in the heart of Little India so you will be spoilt for choice as to where to eat.

In addition to the electronics, super market there is an entire level dedicated to fresh produce at Mustafa Centre. There are about 3 popular Operators plying on the route between Little India and Bidor.  The One Travel and Tours, Starmart Express and Lapan Lapan were the Operators plying on this route. The One Travel and Tours has about four buses plying throughout the day from 8:30 am in the morning till 10:00 pm in the night. This is one of the best things about this Operator as you get a varied timeline to select from. The cost of the tickets start from SGD51 and go up all the way to SGD70 depending upon the class of Bus you book.

The One Travel and Tours operates Executive class of Coaches and has about 20 seats in each bus. Another Operator plying on this route was Starmart Express, which is also a luxury Coach Operator tickets for which start from SGD60. They had about 2 buses plying throughout the day one at 9:00 am and the other at 10:00 pm in the night. I booked a bus, which was supposed to leave at 10:00 pm with Starmart Express.

A bus ride to Troika Sky Dining from Pan Pacific

Pan Pacific

This rectangular designed hotel might seem to be quite ordinary the moment you enter it, but as soon as you enter the guest rooms of this hotel it is sure to leave you mesmerized. The rooms have been quite tastefully decorated with fabrics made up of sober colours and designs that are quite simple and make sense.

Located on Orchard Road, which is right in the centre of the town, the hotel is quite easily reachable from the Changi International Airport and is just a 25 minutes bus ride from the Airport. Last summer my parents had travelled to this destination and they were quite pleased by the way, buses ply on this route.  Their experience of having booked buses online all throughout their tour to Singapore and Malaysia through Red Bus was quite pleasant.  I would recommend anyone to book a bus through  www.redbus.sg and you really need not worry about travelling.

Pan Pacific got a major makeover and all the 206 rooms now have a modern and trendy design. It also has an Italian restaurant serving some of the best Italian dishes and the Chefgs catering to you are Italian as well. This hotel is a great choice if you are planning to tour the heart of the Lion City. Equipped with some of the most luxurious facilities like a fitness centre, a Jacuzzi, a swimming pool and a sauna you will hardly feel the need to go out. However, if you do feel the need make sure to venture out in the Orchard Shopping district where you will find great products at reasonable prices. It is one of the best places to indulge into some impulse buying.

Looking forward to visit Troika Sky Dining, I boarded a bus right opposite Pan Pacific Hotel that dropped me off at the Ampang Park bus stop. Troika is just 6 minutes away from here. The total duration of the journey is about 10 hours and there is a bus every hour.   You can also try out the Express Bus options while travelling long distances by Bus.  This will let you save time as they halt at limited locations.  Most important feature of these buses is that ply on their scheduled time with a marginal difference that it could be due to traffic snarls. Bus operators plying on this route are Rapid KL, KTMB, SBS Transit and Trans National.

Troika Sky Dining

Troika Sky Dining is one such venue where the interiors have been kept quite simple and enticing. The bar instantly shot to fame – thanks to its inventive cocktails and a talented team of mixologists. There is a wide selection of beers, wines and champagnes and they will happily prepare one for you based on your request.  If you want to have the best experience here, ask the attendants for their recommendations. The bar is usually filled up to its entire capacity in the evenings as people drop in a visit after their day’s work.
