Tardis

Tardis

(time and relative dimension in space)

By jfarrell

(inspired by dr who)

This is why I love free verse…

My life story, history, autobio…..

Goes on for  a billion pages…

But

In a poem

1 page, 4 stanzas

No rhyming couplets

But a rhythm that rocks your bones….

Kisses your soul

And dances the twist with your heart….

Here,

Not only can I describe what it felt like,

Back then,

I can whisk you away in my time machine

And you can feel it, experience it for yourself

And

If you’re familair with dr who…

You know to keep running away

Coz the daleks, cybermen and all horrible monsters

Running after you….

You look like their next dinner

I am the TARDIS.

A wordsmith.

But, still

A happily committed drunk!

Childhood dreams

Childhood dreams

By jfarrell

I was born in 1967;

Man had landed on the moon

And Dr Who and Star Trek

Were the best shows on TV.

Too young to be afraid of Russia, or Vietnam or Yugoslavia;

Daleks, Klingons, Cybermen,

Were my enemy;

Mankind’s enemy.

The United Federation of Planets;

Not just us;

A host of planets, spread across the galaxy;

United.

Well, Brexit’s put that back about a billion years;

On the bright side.. if the daleks and cybermen ARE watching;

They’re wetting themselves laughing;

And all that water gonna make them very rusty

Maybe, mankind will survive.

When they invade.

Then I could surrender and fulfil my childhood dream…

To be assimilated; to become a BORG.

Author's Notes/Comments:

curious.... i wanna be assimilated.. fit in... be like everyone else.... but my country doesn't.... really curious...
