National Treasure

Hello son,

You've lived for those days.

You've lift the sun rays-

Trickled down the face-

Of the wealthy man.

What love entails-

Forgotten in time.

Forbidden, through-

The faded lust in your eyes.

Red, white and blue-

Seem so dull these days.

Grated by the lies that they tell-

Molded by political hell.

Send shivers and twist these spines-

Pride and courage bleed out those minds.

How they're made to feel grand-

Stars burst into dust and fade in the sands.

Held your weight to the floor.

Creating light out of noise-

Hoping everyone praises you-

Popular stand.

Close your eyes and begin.

As this life will soon spin-

Don't let anyone tame you.

Shiny Apple

O my great one!

How you shine! Shine! Shine!

The arms of the ages open,

Receiving those worn, scarred and weary souls

To embrace a new freedom of dreams!

O my soul of loving concern,

For those beaten by war,

And the ravages of man's frailties

That most often lurk unseen within his being,

Lift up your best alms,

And transform those regrets

Beyond the iniquities of the past.

Streets paved with the shadows

Of lonely and searching immigrants

Lost in time and groping for security,

Never allowing malice to obsure your divinity.

Shine! Shine! Shine On!

Free as the wind (Ode to the native American Indian).

Oh how I wish
I could have set
the native American Indians free
with pride and dignity.

Taking them back across
the great open plains
to their sacred home
in lush green vallie's
where buffalo are plentiful
and roam.
To live in peace
at one with nature.
once more.

Setting their spirits
as free as the wind
wild untameable
like a magnificent
stallion on it's journey

An American Autumn

The sunbeams shine around and partly through the translucent leaves
The leaves are tinted orange like a beautiful aura waiting to be discovered
The branches of unique trees spread towards each other in an abstract arch
The amber leaves reflect the dew over the quietly emerging fractal limbs making for heavenly beams of light shooting through the crevices of the canopy
In relaxed nature the true beauty is delivered
The sunset connects to the suburbanised prairielands along with the adjacent maple leaves
The details are everywhere and on every tree, plant, object, sidewalk, road, plain
Its simplicity, yet so complex
Like a snapshot, I can only look back
For this day, this second is on another world half a decade in the past
My old life has left...
And yet ...
I’m still here

Author's Notes/Comments:

I did this in year 7. (:

Misc Poems

Osama is dead,
But terrorism is not.
My fellow Americans are dead.
They will always be.
Nothing will bring them back,
Not even his death.
Nothing will quell our grief-
Not flowers, not funerals,
Not even “I’m sorry for your loss”
Nothing will be the same.
But, at the same time,
Nothing can tear US Apart.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Kinda cheesy, but patriotic nonetheless.
Our assignment was to write a poem based on a headline. So I did.
