Immortality

Folder:
Light and Dark

Sometimes I hear the ghosts of my past

Often they whisper in my ear

Just out of consciousness

Barely audible, but present

Memories of those gone by

Now immortal in my mind

Forever they'll exist in me

Or at least as long as I live

For we are scars on the membrane of time

Carving our existence deep into it's flesh

Dying to gain immortality

Our existence tantamount to the memories of others

Excellent Take On Life/Death

Rarely, I find a write that is intimately in touch with a reality - it's properties, it's essences - the telling as a truth told - enjoyed the perfectnesses in this one - allets -

Appreciation

Thank you, I have had a lot of time to ponder on this subject. I'm glad that you enjoyed it.

"We are scars on the membrane

"We are scars on the membrane of time." A better verse I've never read. You follow it up so well, a penetrating stanza to sink your point in. This is an instant favorite of mine.

Thank you, although the poem

Thank you, although the poem actually began with the last verses. They just happened to pop into my head one day, thats why the ending sounds more....mature? than the rest of it. The first two verses really just expounded a little on the feeling I wanted to convey. Thank you for the comment
