childhood memories

A Fish Story

Folder:
Just a thought!
A good portion of my young, boyhood life was spent fishing many of the
Ozark streams. The Meramec , Big River, Huzzah and one often visited with
Granpa, Gasconade River, down by the farm in Maries County. Most times
we would stop and pick up a couple boys living along the river.
They were always good company, and it didn't hurt, they knew where
all the good fishing holes were. After digging enough worms to fill up a
Hills Brothers coffee can, we'd bait the hooks and toss our line in the stream.
The river was so clear, you could see every color in the rocks as the sun
danced through the cold, spring fed water. Never a long wait, fish were
always eager to swallow a big,  fat, juicy earthworm.
Our stringer full and bellies empty after a couple hours in the sun, we'd
haul em' up on the bank and commence to cleaning, while Granpa started
a good camp fire in the pit.  Since "old man Butler's" cornfield backed up
to the river, we always managed to relieve him of a few ears to go with
the fish fry.  Sitting by the fire till dark, with Granpa telling fish stories of
Uncle Mearl being pulled in the river by a "Big One", we ate our fill of Bass,
Perch, and quite a few Catfish as I recall, not to mention the sweet corn that
melted in your mouth...That was some good eatin!
Before dropping off the boys, we stopped by "Old man Butler's" with a few
nice size Catfish to compensate him for the corn that disappeared.
He thanked us for the fish and said "he hoped the corn was good."
We thanked him and said, "indeed, it was delicious."
Those days are gone, yet always surface in my memory.
Today, I walked through a puddle after a morning rain...
The sun glistened off tiny ripples, the colored pebbles danced at my feet...
And Granpa smiled'

My Childhood Memories

I had a childhood,

Full of bitter-sweet memories,

I can’t help thinking of my friends, good,

Ever turned up performing sweet responsibilities.

So lovely the moments were,

Angling, singing, hiking, acting and playing,

Used to be my routine regular,

Happiness to me was something that study would never bring.

How can I not remember?

Collecting stamps,

Roaming from one place to another,

And into the pond those crazy jumps.

The rendezvous with the bosom friends,

And the sweet fights,

Returning home late after flying kites as if it had no ends,

If power-cut peeked, I would run outside to enjoy the starry nights.

Oh those fallen mangoes!

During the violent northwester,

And the competition among us,

To be the best collector, the winner.

In the 4th line, the term 'sweet responsibilities' has been taken form the famous quote by Kahlil Gibran- “Friendship is always a ‘sweet responsibility’, never an opportunity”.

How Siblings Fight

Folder:
All About Me

I see him in the distance;
I start to hide as he comes near.
He might just think it's chance,
Or maybe cower out of fear!

Arise young warrior;
Your battle has begun.
Attack in the foyer,
Let the blood begin to run!

Stab him once...
Stab him twice...
Slay the demon spawn!

Make him shudder...
Make him cringe...
Devotion has just won!

Holy hell, the queen arrives!!!!
She'll kill us both if we don't be quiet.

"Hey kids...where are you?"
"It's dinner time!"

My brother and I snicker
As we hide under the table.
Maybe it's quicker
To run if we're able.

I push him aside,
And tickle his tummy.
He laughs as I fight
To tackle this dummy.

Mom spies where we sit,
She starts to come near us.
He and I try to look innocent,
Our cute smiles are a plus.

She looks at him...
She looks at me...
She rolls her eyes and smiles!

"Come to the table you guys."
"It's time to eat."

When I was younger, me and my brother had an entire world of make believe that we constantly fell into, and this was kindof inspired by a childhood memory.

Fairytale Creatures Dance Across My Subconcious

Folder:
Miscellaneous

I remember a time when I was strange,

at the old, young age of thirteen.

I'd read myself a story, turn out the lights

then I would dare myself to dream.

I flew the skys of Neverland with the Lost Boys

Then I'd kiss that silly Peter Pan.

I'd be the Mad Hatter's Psychiatrist,

and chase the White Rabbit across the land.

Then I'd be dragged away to the land of Oz

and sing on the streets of Emerald City.

I'd smile at the mean old Wicked Witch,

and tell her that she looked pretty.

I'd hook up that Cowardly lion,

with the Old Lady who Lived in a Shoe.

and send the Grinch on a magical trip,

to sail across Calamazoo.

I'd run across two books to Humpty

and make sure he didn't fall.

Then I'd go and join my friend Mulan

to battle bandits on top of the Great Wall.

I'd smile and gossip with Red Riding Hood

and feed the wolf that's Big and Bad.

Then agree to build Two Little pigs a house

if i saw they were looking sad.

I'd hop in Cinderella's magic carriage

and wear a gown to the Ball.

Then I'd shop til I dropped in her hometown

Oh yes, I'd do it all.

I'd marvel at dancing pots and pans

while singing with Beauty and the Beast.

I'd join the Prince who kissed Snow White

and invite her dwarves to a feast.

I'd gather Fairy Godmothers and Pinnochio

we would go and grab a bite.

Then I'd tell my new friends that I must wake,

and wish them all a goodnight.

Then my alarm clock would sound,

with its loud annoying beep.

I'd spend the day imagining new adventures,

until I could go back to sleep.

Daycare memory

Adventures

Do you remember anything from when you were only 1 years old? I do. I solved a problem that I was having. There was a certain 1 year old in the same room as me. This 1 year old was a big boy who looked like a giant to me because I was always so tiny for my age. He lived me and always seemed to want to take care of me like I was a baby or something. He did not understand that I could take care of myself. He always ran up to me when my mother walked into the room with me each morning. He would try and unbutton my coat, take it off of me, and hang it up for me. I HATED that! I knew how to button, unbutton, take off, and hang up my own coat, by myself. So, one day when he walked into the room and he ran up to me, I took a step backwards. He kept coming. I took another step backwards, and he took another step forward. I wanted to say “STOP!” but while I was quite skilled with buttons, I had not yet figured out how to talk. I had quite enough of his pushiness, so I knew that I had to figure out a way to stop him. He kept coming and coming and coming until I was backed up into a corner. I got freaked out because I didn’t like being cornered. He reached out to take my coat, which was still on me, and I didn’t like this either. So… I opened my mouth, leaned forward, and bit down fiercely on his finger. That stopped him! I opened my mouth back up and he yanked his finger out. He backed off quickly and went to do something else. I think he finally understood that I didn’t like it, and so he finally stopped. All it took was a little enforcement from the magical tools in our mouths that we call “teeth”!
