If loneliness was a whisper I would be the only one to hear.

Amongst a crowd, within a group, speaking with a stranger I'd hear it's troubled voice.

It blows carefully gravid with solitude.

A mixture of feelings boil up inside me with no one to take heed.

Broken breaths caress my body if loneliness was a whisper.

Author's Notes/Comments: 

Sometimes loneliness can eat you alive.  I know because that's what happened to me.  Here is a poem that I think reflects not only me, but for everyone as well.  I think in each of us, there's a sort of loneliness that's always waiting to be experienced.  Loneliness is a whisper we strain to hear.  We try to understand what it's trying to say.  Once we do, sometimes you feel as if you're the only one heard it and others didn't.  They didn't hear the whisper loneliness tries to communicate.  All you can feel is to feel alone.

wow, very cool poem... extrememly thought-provoking. loneliness is definitely a powerful presence and force that fills the empty space around us. it's cool to explore the possibility of it communicating with us.

Ah, you're so darn talented! This was magnificent. Heartbreaking but stunningly beautiful. I also especially liked the last line...

great poem. If you've read anymore of mine other than the black spider than you know that most of mine follow the same depressing paths. You portray the feelings that many people over look when they're fitting in with people. I hope that you aren't alwyas in such solitude enviroments, and find someone or someplace to fit in.

Oh boy can I relate to this. I absolutely loved "Broken breaths caress my body if loneliness was a whisper." It makes loneliness tangible and we've all felt that way at some point. You did a great job of capturing that feeling.
