Strangling the Telephone

Don't you hate telemarketers?  I do at times.

Like when they call constantly at your home phone

asking for your interest in their services.

Or they impose a lot of questions to rake you in

as a customer.  "What's your last name?"

"Tell me your address please."

"Can I get your opinion on the credit card service

you're in?  What about ours?  Did you know that our

interest rate...blah blah blah blah blah...!!!"

I know it's hard because telemarketers

are testing my patience.

I can try to imagine what it's like

being a telemarketer too from their point of view

and having their patience tested by callers.

It's their job...  But I've shouted at them

sometimes because I couldn't damn handle it.

When I say no, it means NO!!!

No doesn't mean continue questioning

personal things about me.

No doesn't mean you can still impose

your services unto me because I may be still interested.

I have important calls to receive too.

What if a family member was in dire trouble and I'm needed?

There are important calls to receive other than

a call that wastes my time.

Before I've tried being a little considerate

with them by telling them, "No, but could you

leave your phone number so that the next time

I may be interested, I'll call."

That doesn't work.

Some get the wrong idea that I am wholefully

interested and try to get me "hooked"...

Another method I've tried was to erase my last name

from the telemarketing phone list.

That doesn't work either.

They will reinstate your name on that list eventually.

Sometimes I have to wonder, "Where's our privacy?"

I'm bombarded with unnecessary phone recorded messages

and telemarketers.

Everytime I get "that" call again I just want

to strangle the phone.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Yes, I would strangle the phone if it happened again...  If they imposed on me long enough on the phone even when I declared no, I get pissed off.  I may need to get caller ID but we'll see.
