STANZAS FOR CAREY

Lord, knowing that Your perfect vigil shall not end,

into Your Love and Grace we send

our now-quiet one, with our dreams, still new :

our incantation of our love, dedicated to You.

Hopeless our hopes seem now; Your Hope is full still;

so we make this, our solemn vow, clinging to Your Will.

And though our vows are promises we intend as true,

we do not know when their time may come: it's up to You.

We really only now may claim them through

the Promises we have faith are from You;

our earnest, deepest prayers that rise so mild :

Oh, Lord, now do embrace our darling child.

All of Your blessings sent freely from above

we surrender and return to You, in trusting love.

For our wills are Yours, and You know what is best;

and You have made us Your stewards of all the rest.

This little life was ours, lent only a little while;

like You gave Earth Your Only Son, Your Only Child.

In Faith, we can keep nothing back from You,

so, now, "Thy Will Be Done", is our solemn vow.

Love stays fresh. 'Though as old as Eden's joyous songs

it goes on, in our hearts, and lives where Hope belongs.

As new as our hearts' most recent pulse and rhyme,

lodged in Your Faith, with You, for Eternal Times.

The Lord gives and the Lord takes away! Sometimes it seems that our loved ones are never really ours, but, instead God has just loaned them to us for a while!

Beautiful, heart-warming poem! Thank you, brother, for sharing with us!
