Children Oh Children

It’s ok little man, no need for those tears

Mama’s not hurt, she’ll be with you for years.

It’s ok little miss, no need to cry anymore.

Daddy’s just playing behind those big metal doors.

It’s alright little dude, don’t worry today.

Don’t think about those too-small jeans ok?

It’s alright little girl, turn away from the glares.

So what if you’re hair’s nappy? Ignore their stares.

Don’t fret young warrior, keep soldiering on and see,

One day it won’t hurt no more, you’ll be free.

Don’t fret young mother, weather societies’ attacks.

One day you’ll be family ‘cuz, one day he’ll come back.

It’s ok little man, no need to cry

Daddy didn’t mean it when he told you goodbye.

It’s ok little miss, you need cry no more.

It’s wasn’t your fault and you aren’t a whore.

Chin up young man, walk tall with pride.

Through the wire and gunfire you chose not to hide.

Head up young lady, straighten your back.

Be proud you are un-fazed by their every attack.

It’s alright baby boy, hold your cries a bit longer.

I promise those huger pains make you stronger.

It’s alright baby girl, don’t embitter from pain.

Mommy loves you and won’t beat you bloody again.

Smile for me children, adults in kid’s shells.

You know the pains of this life all too well.

Cry with me children, from dirty beds in broken homes.

Reach out for my hand and know you aren’t alone.

Laugh for me children, tattered clothes, scars and all.

Your true father will not let you fall.

Endure for me children, your inner fighter you’ve already met.

Just remember, God’s not ready for you to come home yet.

    Appaulling scenes

Appaulling scenes encountered in this poem. Your nursery rhyme type of rhyming adds to the horror of the abuse and neglect some children suffer. Lets hope they sort something better out soon!! Good poem and an excellent read, really bringing home the suffering of many children, to the reader.
