Slow Beating Heart

I did it again

I made a mistake

I thought I could love you

These feelings were fake

All this rejection

Has torn me apart

Just a little protection

For a slow beating heart

I guess I was naive

I knew it would end

But not this soon

Not with a friend

You made me smile

And cleared my mind

I was walking the plank

I was walking blind

You’re not the one for me

I’m not the one for you

You said you cared

Was this even true?

Luckily for me

I’ve gotten stronger

Who am I kidding?

The suffering is longer

Whatever comes next

I wish you well

I’ll try to stand back

And try not to dwell.

This one is lovely.................

I have one suggestion try writing a poem that doesn necesarily so easily rhyme or not rhyme at all but just flows. I think you will amaze yourself when you allow yourself to write poetry that does not necessarily rhyme  and it really frees you up to so many more words. Someone had me do this years ago and I fought the idea at first then I tried it and I was amazed. Do try that at least one time. Thanks for sharing, Sincerely , Melissa

Nice. :P I hope writing these beautiful/upsetting poems helped you get out what you were feeling and helped you heal.
