I look at you and I want to say to you “you are beautiful and wonderful and powerful beyond words” and that “I love you”; but “how many times do I have to ask you to clean your room” or "be careful" always comes out instead. So then I ask myself "when did life stop being about running in the back yard, spreading my arms to both sides, convinced I could fly, and start being about the fear of all the ways you could fall?"
