Learning to Fly

I want to learn how to fly,

To reach and touch the open sky;

Free as a white-winged pigeon,

Drifting past the far horizon.

I want to learn how to fly,

To leave behind the tears I cry;

Beneath the clouds, I’ll softly stay,

And watch the sunlight fade away.

I want to learn how to fly

Before I say my last goodbye;

Let the wind become my guide,

Let my wings unfold inside.

I want to learn how to fly,

Even if I fall from the sky;

One of these days, I’ll try,

An angel learning to soar high.

I want to learn how to fly,

Oh wind, teach me, don’t ask me why;

Fulfill this dream, my only wish,

A hope I’ll hold and always cherish.

Author's Notes/Comments:

This poem carries a simple wish: to be free, to let go of pain, and to believe that trying is enough.
