Naked As The Day One Was Born

We spend our days destroying old versions of ourselves,

For a chance of rebirth.

But we keep suvenirs of our past placed on dusty shelves,

Hidden from the earth.

Reminders that keep us in fear of what we might become,

So we put on masks.

Keeping our emotions contained to the point of numb,

Bottled in flasks.

Once we awaken the power to accept and respect oneself,

We can be truly reborn.

Showing the world our collection that has amassed on our shelf,

Naked as the day one was born.

Realizing what we once were is not what we became,

Opens this flask.

Our hearts can finally set aflame,

Burning off this mask.

I Am What I Was

cominged with what I am now to become what I will be - Then I look back at that dusty shelf and the items and say, "Damn, I actually was that wasn't I once." It's a life.
