Then Visit You Again

The wind soaks up every whisper to enter my ear
Trees block the view I once loved
Time leaves in a frantic rush against itself
I have forgotten all I came here for

"I will return for you one day"
Speaking as if I have been heard
But the grass points the other way
Even the leaves forget my presence

Faded love from all my faults
Sticking around too long
Hours slowing by each and every visit
A break may bring me back

When my thoughts become clear
Once I miss the smell so used to
The hours will hold no meaning
Then visit you again

The grass will watch my careful steps
The smell will fill my nose
Even the leaves remember our times
Then visit you again and again

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this while at a cabin at my uncles I used to go to and read and write. The time spent there was more than just healing and I still am amazed by how I could have forgotten what I was leaving behind.
