Beauty Within

Folder:
Kodak Memories

We see through our eyes

the beauty of others.

Their face, the hair, the skin,

the nose, the mouth, the body.

But sometimes within lies the demon

the ugliness, the blemish.

Even though I may not seem perfect on the outside

I know within my heart that I have the most

beautiful light within.

The beauty that surrenders to everyone

The beauty extends my emotions

none other than the beauty within.

I see the pain and suffering

and the compassionate ways to place yourself within

another perspective.

Within my heart I know I am true

though others see differently in the outside of me.

None will know the beauty within.

Tear drops fall.

The evil must end.

It brings prejudices and hate and all the evils

within the hearts of mostly others.

It pains my heart

for no one to understand

that cycle of evil exists.

Now I must shine

with the beauty within.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I was going through the closet last night in my room when I found this piece in a stored box.  Believe it or not this was the very first poem I've ever written.  I think I was about eight or nine when I wrote this.  Amazing, huh?  How things you've done can return to you for you to remember.  How things that you thought were lost have the ability to come back when you least expect it?  I was kinda embarassed about posting this up earlier but then I thought, "Hey, even though it's not the best thing ever written at least it's the first authentic thing that got you started writing poetry, etc."  So I present to you my first ever written piece, "Beauty Within."  Written at age 8 or 9.

The first poem ever written!! Really? Oh, man!! For the age of 8 or 9, you were a damn good poet, and you still are now!! =)

I started to write poetry at the age of 17 in the summer of 2004 after I graduated from high school, and before I was off to college, which was when I was on summer vacation at the time, and I wrote a poem called, "Shooting Stars & Bubblegum", which was the very first poem I ever wrote!! It was the poem that started it all. Yes, I know that it might have this teen pop kind of feeling to it, since I think that it resembles to what Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera were like, or even Mandy Moore for that matter when they all popped up in the year of 1999 with the songs, "...Baby One More Time", "Genie In A Bottle", and "Candy"!! Of course, now, my poems are far from teen pop-like sounds, or at least, I think it's not. Again, I really like this one, and the title, "Beauty Within", is a great poem to start off with!! I can't believe that you wrote this at the age of 8 or 9!! That's impressive, man!! =)

I would never have believed this was written by someone so young.

I like how you "quagmired" our/your beauty within with tha personal evils or inner demons inside of all of us. That is one of tha many questions or dillemas in life to me.. and I think many other intelligent minds feel you to. If I'm right, and if I may.. I get the impression that this was something that was truly bothering you at the time you wrote it. and I think that when you speak about "the beauty within" you are referring to your intelligence, your spirituality, integerity, and universal love thats within. and those things are beautiful and are also tha pieces that make each one of us beautiful. Damn this one speaks loud. I feel you man.

I also wanna extend my appreciation to ya for all tha luv for my poem "Life". Man that meant a lot. I liked how you responded to it critically and not with a thoughtless "thats tight" comment or something.. It feels good 2 know some1 isnt just readin it but is actually comprehending tha message.

you got myspace?

Holla at me man.. you can either email me or just leave it with a comment or somethin with your myspace url.

much love and respect to ya man.. and be safe out there.
