Like Wind and Water

Formless, non-constructive elements

these two move in similarity.

A field of wheat undulate in the wind.

Or sea waves with fluidity sway to and fro.

Forces of nature either placid or belligerent

in animation have the power to shape Mother Earth.

Always flowing, freed from rules, this is my preferred philosophy on poetry.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I love traditional forms of poetry and sometimes I try to write it too (yet I'm not that good but still I'm trying).  But precendents from traditional style can get boring sometimes which is why I love to flow with my writings.  It doesn't have to be structured systematically in a certain way.  It doesn't need to be rigid as stone.  There's no use for rhythm nor rhyme but all of the above mentioned it can be useful at times.  Take this analogy, poetry can be like sculpting.  You have an organic thing in front of you and you try to shape it the way you want it to appear chipping away pieces until you're satisfied.  But for me, I go with the flow with what I create.  What I make doesn't necessarily have to be aesthetically pleasing, beautiful, inspiring, or accepted because it follows guidelines.  At times it can be ugly and unappeasing but at least I'm proud I made something.  But I guess beauty is in eye of the beholder.  I'm aware that I lose some control in what I dictate with my art while I'm writing and go with my unique styles.  I may be a radical thinker when I say these things, but hey, at least I'm trying to be individually creative...

I totally agree with you. And, I loved your poem. Short, sweet, and right to the point. It was a lovely definition of what poetry is.
