This is an original hypothesis, identifying Salome (as mentioned in Saint Mark's Gospel, chapters 15 and 16) as the dancing girl described in the same Gospel's 6th chapter.

 Matthew 23:10 and 1 Peter 3:6.

I have had correspondence from Christians who claim that the d/S relationship is not inappropriate in the Church.  And yet, the husbands in these relationships are called "master" (I flatly refuse to capitalize it).  And yet, I would raise the question:  is direct disobedience to the clearly stated command of Christ inappropriate in the Church?  But, someday, they will explain it to Him, not me.

The description of Beatrice's gown and laurel crown is taken in the 30th canto of the second canticle ("Purgatorio") of Dante's Divine Comedy.  Her sheer-sheathed shoelessness is my own addition.
