Civil Rights, Women’s Suffrage, and Child Labor

The definition of civil rights

Let me sum it up

It’s just a set of policies

Some people know nothing about

They say it’s designed to ensure

That people are treated equally

What about the women and children

They were not treated equally

They say rights to personal liberty

How funny, how sweet, but it was not received

It took some time and now it’s better

But back then the children had to suffer

Working like men and loosing their lives

Taking care of families before they started their lives

Yes, they all suffered

We can’t say they didn’t

Just look at some pictures

Don’t cry, don’t lie, look and just admit it

You caused this pain

The suffering women, they could have been

Your mother, your wife, or even your daughter Christine

Now the pain is caused, though it never should have been

If we could start all over, would we do the same things again?

Well time can’t rewind, and we weren’t in history itself

So open a book, and help yourself

All I ask of you is to educate yourself

If you have spare time educate someone else

Outstanding piece! I'm a male liberal feminist and I know these things. What a way to make others out there to open up and let them see it at another perspective... Keep it up!
