99c. Love Is Not An Orphan

"Love Is Not An Orphan."

What Love has done is self-willed.

What was done is to make Love plain.

Love's thoughts will ever live alone:

hoping love and Desire revive again.

Safest place for love is in itself.

Love won't forget, memory is so dear!

but there is a constant insistence,

that if Desire seems dead, Hope lives.

Not fled unless Desire is fulfilled.

In Love's face, heart a smile shines.

In love's eyes and voice and frame

there ever reigns, on Memory's throne,

"dreams in amber", ours are the same.

More than friends, love unparalleled,

from fears life uncaged two hearts,

and so thrilled those souls, none can

condemn what Love does, self-willed.

Survival is my old, strong, permanent,

undying root and cause of Hope.

I am safe in grief, although lonely.

I always await you.  Come to me.
