PLACID

Once, between the fierce battles

of birth and life and death

I found me a peace

--a sweet refuge--

who said, to

"pause!"

I waited,

and found Hope,

gained strength, grace,

and, so, I the better understood

my brothers' and my sisters' battles.

Once, I lived my life so feverishly,

yet, sometimes, languidly.

But, I think I've found

the Middle-place

--truth told--

now;

Peace which

loves the Quiet

which Rage cannot hear

midst the maelstrom of man-wisdom.

We Placid know : :  only fools live feverishly.
