Metamorphosis

Butterfly I envy you, carefree and gliding

With your wings prettily, no fear or hiding.

Butterfly you have grace, charm and class

Whether you fly low, or rest upon the grass.

Butterfly will you teach me how to live this way?

I cannot go on like this, no I will not stay

Butterfly how marvelous are your colors bright

I daresay I wish I too could shine with such a light

Butterfly I envy you, no worry or shame

You never have to live to bear any sort of blame

Butterfly why is that you move the way you do?

Is it really all that simple? Can I do it too?

Butterfly you fly so high, the sun your crown and jewel

Away from all the pettiness, the pain and o the fools.

Butterfly so radiant we all admire thee.

Whether you be flying high, or perched upon some tree.

Butterfly; take me to see all the joys you know

I wish to feel that cooling breeze if you will make it so.

Butterfly I know your life is high out of my reach

But maybe if I want enough, your practices you’ll teach.

Butterfly why is it you can change in such a way?

Yet when I spin my cocoon, the change it does not stay?

Butterfly is transformation out of my low range?

Even though my only wish is to like you, change.
