Oh Great Spirit

can you hear me in you're land so peaceful

and so free

please shower down a star or two

so I'll know that you're listening to me

Please send me down a moon beam

surrounded by such things

as love and happiness and good health

and a song for me to sing

Please make my wig-wam snug and warm

keep my camp fires always bright

and may I spot a good luck buffalo

with his robes of wooly white

Please keep my warrior brave and always safe

when he goes off to war

and may he bring home many trophies

to hang outside our door

Oh Great Spirit of the Blackfoot Tribe

let Mother Earth bring forth her gifts

of corn and beans and meat and goods

for when winter's snow lies high in drifts

Please keep my cook pots always full

to keep my family strong

and please let my husband always love me

for it's with him that I belong

Please make me strong and furtile

to bring forth many sons

and let them learn to hunt and fish

count coup and swiftly run

and if you Great Spirit, deem it

 please send down me a smaall maiden fair

so that I can teach her our many  ways

and let her know I always care

For the next full moon of the harvest

I will marry Strong Eagle of the Blackfoot

and life will start for us right there

Oh Great Spirit of the red man

please listen to this humble maidens prayer

and grant for me this special boon

and give me hope and courage

for the many things I have to bare
