At The Sadist's Need To Shatter And Smash You

Since my youth I have loved inflicting pain;

to force my victim through fierce agony.

The presences of bruise, welt, or bloodstain

only incite me to more cruelty;

the practiced application of the scourge

heightens and sharpens this ravenous urge.

In these ways, I achieve satiety,

and feel the exaltation of my soul

in ways most cowards think impossible.

Therefore, to reach such climactic conclusion,

I often volunteer for execution

parties---frequent, as each soldier for Rome

becomes accustomed to and understands

(especially stationed in foreign lands

assisting Rome's commerce and keeping peace).

Today my satisfactions will increase---

the morning's order:  crucifixions, three,

and one is that preacher from Galilee.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Following some words from one of the most evil men I have ever had the misfortune to encounter.  Phrases from the title, "to shatter and smash you," are translations deliberately toned down from the original words.

"and keeping peace"

Love excellent irony. Crusifix deaths were common as hangings later, tge guiitine, drawing and quartering - all that torture over history, burning heritics and witches and warlocks - the ending owned me - reading today's agenda - priceless! Note: I read u a lot, should comment but would rather read u. ~s~

Thank you for saying that.  I

Thank you for saying that.  I am very glad and grateful for your readership, and your comments, which are always welcome, are always quite inciteful.  Yes, human beings have quite a history of torturing each other for private beliefs.  My mother's ancestors in Ireland lynched each other over whether to be Catholic or Prebyterian, an idea I cannot get my mind around no matter how much people try to explain it.
