Father.

You gave it to me; I learn it from you.

The lies that that you taught me; I thought were true

Your angered face; the empty soul

You forced everything upon me; it fell on me whole.

I believe in your lies,

The shallow look in those eyes.

I've failed you, you've failed me

Its everything the world can't see.

With the failure to protest

The hate kills everyone

Taking the life out until its done.

This hatred is killing you, killing me.

No, I'm not like her not like you.

Its the only thing I don't care to do.

I really like the agreesion in this one, Kate. I have always felt that anger is one of the better emotions to express in poetry because it is so easy to relate to. Overall, by design, life should be all about love, but is it justifiable to feel hate for the ones who bring hate to us? That was sort of the overall message I got from this piece. I picked up on the profound and heart-felt probings upon your own emotions. The piece also read slightly complex within the final four lines as you confirmed that you would never give in to be like them. I would agree to the overall message, and it lends "true effect" that you are a very strong person. In conclusion,...let me just say that this poem came to display some really superb talent. (And I'm not just saying that. I honestly mean it.)
