CATHY

Four years ago you left
You didn't say goodbye
I held your hand until the end
Why did you have to die?

The pain and anguish that I felt
No words could ever impart
My life on earth, forever changed
Hear the breaking of my heart

Time has a way of easing pain
Weeks turn into years
Memories of you endure life's trials
I taste the salt in my tears

Author's Notes/Comments:

This was the first of many poems written about my daughter Cathy.  She was a victim of homicide and died the year after my husband.  She was only 23 years old.
