Falling

Folder:
Secular Poetry

No comfort for this heart of mine-

Solace taunting, hiding beyond my reach

The edges of my world crumbling

Falling, falling before my eyes

As Despair invades my hollowed soul.

I cannot staunch the flow

Of the tears falling in my hand

Flooding my mind with thoughts of you

Your voice haunts my every dream

Your sweet embrace, your tender kiss-

Whispers of days forever lost

Linger long deep within.

A love from which there is no escape

Renders me helpless and broken.

Am I only dreaming,

Do I love in vain?

If all is real, then whisper, my love-

Tell me your dreams,

Sing me your songs-

Make me no promises

Tell me no lies;

I long to believe

Yet I cannot.

And so, I shall love from afar-

If what I feel is love at all.
