When Darkness Falls

Folder:
Secular Poetry

Darkness falls and the cold winds blow

Sheathing my heart in walls of ice-

O wretched dark,

Take not my heart from me

For alone I shall not survive the night.

A silent scream issues from within-

Searing my soul, this blackened night

Caresses my skin, kisses my lips

Shattering my fragile inner core.

I lie awake on this bed of stone-

Time slips slowly from out my reach

As I fade from sight and out of mind.

I love this poem, it's so well written, definitely another one of my favorites.
