My head is pounding

My chest is heaving

Your footsteps loudly

Say you’re leaving

I try to speak

But out comes stutters

My voice is weak

My heart just flutters

I did not hold

Your hand already

Were I so bold

But my palms sweaty

I’d like to move

My knees won’t bend

So I’ll add you

As one more “friend



I did not kiss

Your lips of roses

My eyes wince

As each door closes

Your steps slow

As you near your car

A chance to blow

So here we are

You turn your head

I look away

We find instead

I’m too afraid

Its nothing new

Another dead end

So I add you

As one more “friend”
