There were at least 81 wars in which the British Empire was involved in invading other
    countries in the 19th Century.

Now the British government is involved for the fourth
time in the invasion of AFghanistan.  19th Century wars have been semantically diminished by terms such as
      'rebellion, bombardment, expedition, uprising'.

The picture is of an 1857 War of Indian Independence which was unsuccessful.  The Indian patriots were strapped in front of cannons and blown apart by the imperialists who had fought Bonaparte. The art was painted by Vereshchagin, an antiwar artist. In other campaigns in the 18th and 19th Century, British imperialists distributed smallpox infected blankets to Native Americans and in the First Fleet expedition, to Native Australians. They distributed opium to the Chinese to create an army of addicts who would do their bidding.  They let the Irish starve. They shelled 3 cities in Japan.  In the 20th Century they would machinegun to death hundreds of peaceful protesters in Amritsar.
