"After Honey Kisses"

by Jeph Johnson

after honey
kisses dripping
drops that glisten
silence begs my
sullen calm to
listen attentively
smitten and contented
the fan, the only air
beside our bed
the only fair
the smoothness
of your skin
your breath
and our heart's
silent pounding
a weight has
lifted from my chest
