"Fragments of My Imagination"

by Jeph Johnson

from out of the breadth of a cloudless serenity
surrounded by bastions of stout hypocrites
discernment passes from truth to absurdity
while life faces death and then calls it quits
and nothing's as sane as the hybrid insanity
borne from the madness of what lies beneath
the tactile illusion that some call humanity
sick in the mind and long in the teeth
so sleep cannot conquer a conscience defeated
seeded a full notch below lethargy
some would concede but not the conceited
they are the ones who stagger "swaggerly"
wonder, I might, if temptation takes hold of me
perhaps, through my mind, forever will call
take my very essence from out of eternity
in the form of reality overhaul
I'm tossed to the wind like a falling brown leaf
drifting through abnormal consciousness
I dream to imagine a mighty belief
built on the fragmented pebbles professed
