"Turning Night Today"

by Jeph Johnson

our eyes crash
through awkwardness
in a gentle collision
while your smile promotes
a passionate advance.
we realize in unison
conclusions and decisions
have kept our rapture
at a safe distance.
so I scrape my nerves,
impose my will
and take you in my arms
and though I feel
it's overkill
I risk a false alarm,
for in this dance
we promenade
sidestepping apologies.
I catch your glance
and it persuades
my blurry eyes to see,
and though impaired
with salty tears
I've nothing left to say.
you've changed my mind,
brainwashing time,
by turning night today.

This poem took my breath away. I want to send it to the guy I just stopped seeing right now. Your poem just summed up every time I am with him. I am in awe right now, that was a beautiful poem!!
