Our Past

Our past we can not run from,

No matter how we try.

People will never let us forget,

Though they don’t stop to ask why.

Why we all do some things,

Others think is uncouth.

They don’t want to understand,

Or recognize the truth.

They judge with unruly wisdom,

And condemn the innocent.

Instead of understanding,

The honesty that was meant.

Is it better it admit the past,

And learn from our mistakes.

Or hide the truth from the ones we love,

To save us from heartache.

To learn from our mistakes,

Is a painful task.

Yet it is better,

Then to live in am Iron mask.

So before you judge another,

Think of what they have been through.

At least they can admit it,

And to them selves be true.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Some times people judge others before they know all the facts of the situation.Instead of looking at thier own lives they choose to condem others, with out looking inside them selves and seeing thier own mistakes.

this is so true. i was in school and we had to give a one word poem and describe why we chose that word. this kid stood up and said his word was understanding, because if we all took a little time to understand where everyone comes from, we would have a much more forgiving place.

i applaud you, cause too many judgements are passed, and ye who has not sinned, let he cast the first stone. i think too many people forget that.

thanks for the reminder.. you must have a very good soul.
