JACKIE O'

Folder:
JOURNAL # 41

she lead such a privileged
yet painful life
a crystalized fish bowl existence
brimming with riches, glamor
and turmoil alike
tragedy tattooing her every other
moment lived
she flourished publicly
while she suffered privately
the reigning queen of American Camelot
experiences endured
that would cripple a far lesser individual
an evolution of one's core she proposed
through her own example
of quiet grace under fire
the entire world mourned with her
in those early hours of her shockingly sudden
widowhood
from the pink Chanel suit to sackcloth ashes
she stoically rose
a media darling morphed into a superior
being ethereal and anointed
and even more admired for the scars of
tragedy she was forced up close to
bear witness to
she breathed the embodiment of courage
forever securing in the history books
a place for herself of deep respect in the hearts
of many people.
for though the world lost a so beloved and vibrant
young world leader that day
she, you must remember
lost so much more in but the breath

of that fatal second shot fired

not just the love of own her life

slaughtered so very publically

before her

drenching her in his brain matter

and blood
but also her two small children's

so adored father

gone without another word.............

Author's Notes/Comments:

I saw a short home moive clip the other day of Jackie with one of her children when they were small on a boat smiling for the camera and in color ( I believe it was on American Experience on PBS) and it moved me so to see her in a more lovely innocent time, not knowing what was about to come that would be so brutal, graphic and hard on not only her but the entire country and this poem stirred in me from that sweet ethereal image. I titled it Jackie O' as I know years later she married Aristotle Onasis and that was the nick name the media then gave her. That seemed to fit better as that was the woman she became through all those hard times and scars of her earier life she had to walk through. This is my humble tribute to her life............

Public figures seldom reflect the home front. The inner war. Melissa captured it in this wondrous tribute. ~Lady A~
