JOURNAL # 40

you made me laugh
when I swore I couldn't
you made me smile
when I said I wouldn't
you called me clever
when I said something
dumb
then claimed I was ferocious
just because
I didn't like to hold a hand gun
the absurdity of your humbling
though wacky conversation
distracted me from the
overall emotional devastation
of these passed few days
I think you somehow sensed
my carefully shielded sadness
and chose to be my comedic
champion
through a variety of wittily
imbecilic reparte'
I don't know really who you are
I never caught your name
but in your key stone cops antics
used to likely cheer me up
I must say
you saved me all the same
so right before I fell asleep
I quietly prayed that God
would handsomely reward you
for your great kindness to me
and I thanked him for sending
a tiny sliver of sunshine
my otherwise dark and dreary
way.....................
