SOMETHING LIKE A SIN

Folder:
JOURNAL #9

there must be some way to get out from under whatever

is currently in

whether it be fashion, a specific cause, the cinema effect,

vanity and or financial status

to me, all seem something like a sin

was free enterprise really meant to get so out of control

and as far as this

where women can, and have insured their legs (Betty Grable)

or other prominent body parts for millions of dollars and paid

out the eye for lip stick that won't

smudge when they kiss

just don't wear lip stick if you're that worried about

smudging

and you can just forget it if you think even for one second that

from my bluntly pointed opinions on such shallowness that I'll soon

be budging

I'm made of stronger substance than that you see

shallow acts are not my brand nor style

so, you won't find me digging at the bottom of society's pile

I like to jump in the faces of the top dogs in the world's money yard

while my happiest face I wear only when playing the most tactful trump card

which is candid non-acceptance by what and who money can buy

we shouldn't be so utterly entranced

there are so many things that are worth so much more

like

one's inner peace, tranquility, the watching of young

children at gregarious play

the love and harmony of one's family

holding a squirming new born pup

feeding deer in a public park

talking to the elderly about events that occurred

years ago

and of course the writing of gentle, unassuming poetry

alright, well maybe some of my poems are just a wee

bit assuming...........
