restless girl child

with eyes of rain

stripped of family and home

sold into a cold frightening reality

unallowed to complain

painted up in mystery and shadows

snarling tigresses growling enviously

at one tiny girl

sensing a great wonderous value in the making

no doubt

weary that they will  be second to this

petted but once so very young

by a clever gentle panther businessman

burning since

only to follow in his nightly

prowls

as the restless child is shed

until gloriously but gradually she morphs into

the most desired one

coccooned in a sweet gossamer secret love

that burns ever on

always cherished yet carefully hidden

away from suspicious eyes

protected by deeds endured

for the sake of another happier day

that may never come

constricted always

by traditions heaped in loveless service

and restriction

denied

constantly denied

the real comfort of human warmth

flowing sadly through

the invasion of war

through the financial rebirth and rescue

of another ally

only to then be awash in scornful

bitter betrayal

by a once friend

now a gawdy gushing

cheap rival

tarnished in reputation by circumstance

the rigid momentum

shattered and broken

leaving little

the routine remains

lifeless

pointless

and pitifully devoid of any real hope

ah but precious panther returns

the chairman of all things possible

revitalizing what surely felt

forever lost

new days

so fresh and golden

quite remarkable

in their simple

wholely unexpected birth

panther never forgot

remained all that time

charitable and noble

until a clear cut path opened up

to make his rightful claim

upon such innocent heart

that never once waivered

even when

beaten

broken

neglected

battered

starved

and bruiesed

alight in the joy

happiness lives now

for a love survived

a love stronger

and wiser

for merely having been

each their own unshatterable

refuge................
