BATTERED MOONLIGHT

Folder:
JOURNAL #29

bathed in battered moonlight

at an angle so uninvolved

the hours scamper away

so arrogantly

soundly chilled is their necessary wait

until my next irresistable thaw

the soft click of the front door closing

so ultra quietly behind you

confiscated any reserve I had

and holds now in its place

a trembling hostage of regret

which for shadows my every gathered thought

again and again

such haunting circumvents

even my own private chidings

why is it we seem to say goodbye

in the strangest ways

out of some strangled sense of beligerant

habit

when in actual fact its selfish stupidity

attempting to have its own way
