'Today Was A Good Day'
I saved a turtle's life
from being ran over
in the street
for being too slow
crossing such a busy road
and when I arrived home
a puppy came up to me
from out of nowhere to
love on me and say hello
the weights of spiritual balance
demonstrated to me yet again
that God is oh so aware of
every possible moment we live
I made dinner smiling
in supreme delight
for these sudden kernels of
knowledge so gently bestowed
upon me...............

Author's Notes/Comments:

This particular day was in late May of 2014 Memorial Day weekend. I recall it cause my brother was coming in for Memorial day weekend and It was my last night working before I had that weekend off and I was driving home on Route 2 and saw a turtle crossing the road on the other side and knew as soon as traffic picked up someone would run him over so I turned around in a parking lot a little ways down the road and wnt back stopped my car and got out and moved him over to the side of the road he was heading towards then I got back in my car and drove home. When I arrived at the front of my house I opened my car doo to situate the things I needed to take into the house and a big puppy came up to me to make over me. Later I learned his name was Zeus he is my neighbor's dog and he's huge now but still loves me dearly and makes a bee line for me everytime he sees me when he is out. That whole day was so lovely that later that evening when I was making dinner I felt so priviledged to have had those two experiences and felt that God had come each time to visit me in those moments. This poem was my reflection of that particular day that I remember oh so well here more than 6 months later. Enjoy

I so agree

poetry is a special langauge God gives to us as poets so at a warmer level we can better communicate with each other's inner most self and with him. More and more, other poets help me to see this far more clearly. I never tire of their's and your support. Thank you for your innate kindess and encouragement. sincerely, M.
