The Mermaid and The Sailor.

In a previous life,

In a previous world.

She touched his face,

And he woke to find her,

Stroking his brow,

Rinsing the water from his clothes

And tending to his wounds.

She was not a human

She was not an angel ,

No net could ensnare her,

And with every kiss

her eyes seemed to both

promise, and threaten him

With a feeling that he thought

Could never exist.

solid piece

I really enjoyed this, it pulled me from line to line, though I feel it could end a bit stronger. I really like how the poem is romantic with this looming danger and the last line falls short of that, comes off as finding something safe.

Much Love
