The Path I Chose

Forgetting things I used to know

My thoughts no longer free

Not knowing how it feels

able to be just me for me.

People say do this and that

Commands that want to be

And none bring me any closer

Too the things I want to see.

The river keeps rushing alone

Swiftly wearing me down

A choice to either walk away

Or face my fate and drown.

See now that all I really am

Is an extension to all of them

A quickly wilting flower

Of a long corrupted stem.

No longer better then the rest

Is the reflection that I see

This is the price I paid

Although I can’t recall the fee.

With all the lies, convince myself

The life I live is true

This is the path I chose to walk

The day that I met you.
