What is a child

What is a child?

I breathe in your sunshine

Your honesty often perplexes me

Those probing questions

and loving arms

Your chuckle sounds to me

like a thousand angels

singing halleluia

Your crying

like a million

angels feeling harm

You ride upon the back of a shooting star

Eyes mischievously flirting with the sun

Jesus smiles as you take your first step

awakened by your childish charm

You are part me,

part he and part

of the heavens above.

What makes me me

is you being you

From the day you

said your first word

Cut your first tooth

Had your first grazed knee

On that rainy wet day

You didn't cry

just bit your lip

and went back to play

You give without expectation

Love without prejudice

Your innocent hope

and wide eyed wonder

you are what makes me real

If we dared to look through a childs eyes

we'd see each sunrise with renewed hope and wonder

On this his very special day

I offer James to God

To accept and lead him along the way

Because the path is treacherous and long

I know with character and conviction

Our son James will grow strong

Godparents there to help him

if he gets led astray

and all in life seems to go wrong

We welcome them as family for now and every day

But above all for them to love him

Thats all I pray.

i loved all the descriptions of a child, they were beautiful and inspiring. I love spending time with younger children, it really opens your eyes. Very nice =)
