Lipstick

I sat there and just watched your jaws flopping,

like the wings of a dying bird
I just picked the dead leaves off the flower I bought you
thinking how this is the perfect metaphor and
I maybe grinned at how brilliant I can be
You didn't catch it
You were forming up your war baby
And going straight for the throat

I realized something
even after 5 years of touching me,
you still don't know how to do it
I just pretend I love it, the way you
pretend to love me

You tell me you need time to sort yourself out
and Im thinking, dont bother
You've already lost me

And the next time another woman looks at me
I'm going to walk straight up to her and

put my tongue in her mouth
and then take a picture of myself with her lipstick still on my face

So yeah, take all the time you need darling

I know how to break hearts too.
