Caramel

Folder:
2004

Memories drip with caramel happiness,
Sticky like icecream on a hot summer day,
Feeding droplets to the ants,
Upset because they drowned,
Tears salty down cheeks,
Like the sea on your tongue,
That first thirsty time,
Rounding that corner,
Shrieking and yelling,
And silent when you saw the endless expanse,
Blue like Grandmother's sapphire,
When she held you on her knee,
And explained why the birds sang so sweet,
Like that caramel, that one time...

Author's Notes/Comments:

Trying to be more metaphorical, starting with that idea 'caramel happiness'... just kinda... developed. I'll take another look at it in a couple of days.

This poem meanders about nothing, using crap metaphors and soppy, emotive language that lends nothing to the poem. I would say this was your worst, but I'm sure there are others that are even more pathetic attempts at poetry.
