Cocoon Years

In the ten years together you became something choate
I was leery and you were fragile
I was praising and you were worthy
I nourished you with words and patience
Your peace was my contentment
When your heart was full, you ripped open your little prison
No longer frail, but stark and wild
Your wings were stained glass and sunbeams
We said forever
Forever must be ten years in a darkroom
But I couldn't keep the picture
