Australia Day

Today is Australia Day!

A day of rejoicing for a new born son

Endeavoured by Captain James Cook

218 years ago, a great page in history, look!

People from all walks of life will assemble

For this great day is to be honoured high

Children waving flags in White and Blue

Emblems embellished with Union Jack.

The blue sky is Advance Australia Fair

Eight white stars shining in southern hemisphere

Two of those are territorial claims

The six stars are for the states' sake named.

We've plenty of boundless plains to share

Listen to the Anthem, hailed across the land

Calling all those who come from across the seas

And those who found the Southern Cross comet band.

The land is girded by nature in green and gold

Nurtured with riches, immaculate and bold

Blessed is a nation once unknown

Now the Prophecy is told and shown.

Our Mother England must be standing tall

Proud, high and mighty to have us found

Its crown remains safely secured

Let us rejoice for this day is free and sure!

218 years ago, the history's page return

To look back and bring nostalgia home

To the shore where James Cook sailed his Bounty

In the Botany Bay, the Endeavour did see aplenty.
